Seldia recommendations for the next mandate of the EU institutions

For the 2024-2029 mandate of the EU Institutions, we present a series of proposals to enhance the competitiveness of the Single Market. Our goal is to create a business environment that is both socially responsible and conducive to the growth of the Direct Selling sector across the EU. We advocate for harmonised consumer protection, reinforced by effective enforcement, alongside initiatives to protect and promote entrepreneurship and skills.

Address consumer protection gaps: Toward more effective enforcement

Fragmented enforcement across Member States creates inconsistencies, unfair competition, unpredictable business environment and increased costs for SMEs. At Seldia, we emphasise the importance of improving enforcement and harmonisation of consumers protection across Member States. To this end, we have proposed several recommendations for the 2024-2029 mandate of the EU Institutions, including providing regulatory bodies with stronger tools and additional resources.

Revitalise the entrepreneurship spirit: Supporting micro-entrepreneurs

Direct Selling, with 5.3 million European entrepreneurs engaged in the sector, is a prime example of micro-entrepreneurship. As we are committed to gaining more support and recognition for entrepreneurs, we have proposed several recommendations for the 2024-2029 mandate of the EU Institutions, including implementing incentives to make self-employment more accessible and appealing.

Foster skills across the EU: Recognising direct sellers' abilities

Direct Selling offers individuals the opportunity to develop a wide range of skills, which are transferable to other business and employment opportunities. In order to recognise and promote Direct Selling as a valued skill-building opportunity, we have made several recommendations for the 2024-2029 mandate of the EU Institutions, including the recognition of in-company training for direct sellers.
